Red sanders smuggler in net, 23 logs seized

Tirupati: The red sanders anti-smuggling task force arrested one smuggler and seized 23 logs of red sanders during a raid in Tirupati on Thursday.

According to task force in-charge P Ravi Shankar, a team of task force personnel spotted a car entering the TTD forest area near Aravind Eye Hospital along the Alipiri Zoo Road on Thursday morning.

They followed the vehicle and found a group of smuggler carrying logs. Once spotted, the smugglers tried to escape.

Only one smuggler was arrested.

The arrested smuggler was identified as Yelumalai of Vellore district, Tamil Nadu. Task force also seized 23 logs of red sanders and the vehicle used by the smugglers.
