Retired DGP Rajiven passes away

KOCHI: Retired DGP V R Rajiven passed away on Saturday. He was 69. The IPS officer had retired in 2010 as commandant general, Home Guard, Civil Defence and Kerala Fire and Rescue Services.


He was suffering from prolonged illnesses and died at his Kakkanad home at 6.30am on Saturday.

Born on October 25, 1950, at Edachira at Kakkanad, Rajiven was a 1977 batch IPS officer.

He was the Thiruvananthapuram commissioner from October 22, 1992 to June 25, 1996.

He began his career as an ASP in Palakkad . He had served as Kollam SP, Kozhikode commissioner, AIG police headquarters, DIG crimes, DIG administration, South Zone IG, excise commissioner, ADGP administration and South Zone ADGP.

Cremation will be held at Kakkanad at 11am on Monday. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his condolences in the death of the retired DGP.

“He was known for his firm action and soft-natured behaviour. Kerala police officers’ association expresses our deepest condolences in the death of the retired DGP,” state committee of Kerala police officers’ association stated in a communique.
