RMC warns discom over non-working streetlights in Raipur

RAIPUR: Furious over not addressing customer’s complaints regarding non-functioning of street lights in the state capital, the Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) has warned PSU power company Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) of imposing fine if it continues the same behaviour.

In past two days, RMC’s helpline number received around 220 complaints of fused street lights in residential areas.

In a review meeting by RMC Commissioner Shiv Anant Tayal along with executive officials and engineers, the RMC decided to impose fine on EESL for showing irregularity in providing services in the future.

RMC has issued the certification of completion of work to EESL for the replacement of street lights. Hence, it was a follow-up meet by the RMC to review the complaints of nonfunctioning street lights received on RMC help line Nidan 1100. Two years ago, EESL replaced conventional street light bulbs with LED street lights in the capital city. Following which, the company was issued tender of Rs46 crores for maintenance of the street lights for seven years.

R MC executive officials informed that EESL is subjected to technical fittings of the bulbs, and not the for irregular power. Later, the RMC engineers were then directed to check with Chhattisgarh power distribution company limited.
