Rowdy sheeter killed, group rivalry suspected

Visakhapatnam: A 32-year-old rowdy sheeter and an accused in a murder case was murdered by unidentified persons near Park Centre in Anakapalle town in Visakhapatnam district late on Sunday night. The victim has been identified as Karri Rajesh, who was found in a pool of blood with injuries on his head and other parts of the body.



The police suspect that the attackers accosted Rajesh with iron rods and smashed his head and body before fleeing from the spot. On hearing a commotion in the area, locals rushed to the spot and found Rajesh lying in a pool of blood.

The locals informed the police who reached the area and carried out inquiries. Sniffer dogs and clues teams were pressed into service to collect evidence.

The police also suspect that the incident was the fallout of a clash between two groups of rowdy sheeters. The victim’s father, Nokesh, also told the police that it could be a case of group rivalry .

Rajesh was facing a murder charge for allegedly killing a man in 2013. The police had registered a case under the Preventive Detention Act against him for threatening a person. Three more cases were also pending against Rajesh under Anakapalle town police station.

The police are collecting CCTV footage from the spot to identify the accused persons. The body has been handed over to the relatives of Rajesh following the postmortem.
