Rs 57.10 lakh seized in Dimapur after announcement of Lok Sabha polls

KOHIMA: Assam Rifles have seized Rs 57.10 lakh from a person at Ghaspani area of Dimapur district in Nagaland in one of the largest haul of cash in the North East since the announcement of parliamentary elections, EC sources said Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner and district Election Officer Dimapur Kevekha Kevin Zehol said the seizure was made on the night of March 13 during routine mobile vehicle check post by Assam Rifles.



He said the person arrested with the cash had said that the money was meant for payment to a contractor.

The money has been seized by the Directorate General of Income Tax (Investigation), North East region and a probe has been launched, Zehol added.
