S-I hangs self days after son's wedding

Jhansi: A 57-year-old police inspector posted in Kanpur Dehat reportedly committed suicide in his hometown in Jalaun district on Wednesday night.

Family tension is cited to be the reason behind the extreme step taken by him. No suicide note was found.

The deceased, identified as Dhirendra Singh Rathore, was on a ten-day leave for his son’s marriage.



Rathore was living with his family in Rajendra Nagar area of Orai in Jalaun district and was posted as a sub-inspector in UP Police in the Mati area of Kanpur Dehat.

He was on a ten-day leave for his son’s marriage which was on March 9. According to reports, on Wednesday night, he had retired to bed at around 11pm clock. On Thursday morning, when he did not came out of his room, his family members found him hanging in his room. The body was sent for postmortem.

Police along with senior officials arrived for inquiry and the body was sent for postmortem. As per SO Kotwali Orai, Shivpal Singh, no suicide note was recovered, however preliminary inquiry revealed that the deceased was under stress due to some family problems forced him to take the extreme step.
