Sachin Tendulkar Doesn't Give Me Nightmares Anymore: Shane Warne

Former Australia spin legend Shane Warne, while sharing the stage with Dr Annurag Batra, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief BW Businessworld and exchange4media Group for an exclusive one on one conversation said, he doesn’t dread Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar anymore.

Addressing the occasion he maintained, “I can promise you Sachin is not my dreams and thoughts today.

I can’t recall which year it was but he played terrific Innings and they won test matches (against Australia). I said probably, as a throwaway line tongue-in-cheek I said probably have nightmares about Sachin’s drive. I promise you I don't think about Sachin in my sleep.”

Warne, who was recently named as the brand ambassador of Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League. Warne, who led Rajasthan Royals to its first IPL title in 2008, was the mentor of the side last season. But this year the Australian will be associated with the team in a new role.

When asked whether Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli is a better player he maintained, “ I'm still contemplating that I got asked that every day so far for the last month, they're both terrific players like anyone in any era.  They will always be great players. I've been trying to think about do I believe that Virat Kohli is the best one-day International player ever. That's the question I'm asking myself. So I think in Test Cricket at the moment, I would say the Viv Richards was the best player I saw.  Tendulkar was the best to eyeball I had bowled to. So where Virat Kohli stands I am still thinking about it. But at the moment he's got to be very very close to challenge Viv Richards as the greatest one day batsman of all time. To me, it is either Virat Kohli or Viv Richards. Both are the best one day player of all time. I can't figure out who's the best yet. And the rest, probably Sachin and Brian Lara the upcoming the equal sides around now. It still it's not an easy question to answer but I think Virat is definitely the best one day player I've seen since Viv Richards.”

In a related development, Rajasthan Royals has also decided to change its jersey colour from blue to pink this year. Explaining the rationale behind this move, the franchise spokesperson was quoted in a media report as saying, “Jaipur is known as the pink city, Jodhpur is famous for pink sandstone and Udaipur produces pink marble. Pink, therefore, is best suited as the official colour of Rajasthan Royals, which will also help the fans identify and celebrate their team.
