SAD says Brahmpura's kin has joined it, but MP calls him acquaintance

Tarn Taran: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has claimed that a “close relative” of Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, chief of the party’s splinter group SAD (Taksali), joined it at a function here on Wednesday.

However, Brahmpura rubbished the claim of Gurinder Singh Tony Brahampura being his relative and said he was an acquaintance who had worked against him in the previous election.

Tony joined SAD (Badal) along with wife Rupinder Kaur, and the function was attended by former SAD minister Bikram Singh Majitha and the party candidate from Khadoor Sahib parliamentary constituency, Bibi Jagir Kaur.

Brahmpura said Tony didn’t even live in Brahmpura village, but at the nearby Dehra Sahib village.

At the function, Tony said he was disillusioned by SAD (Taksali) leaders as the Congress was helping them. Majithia added that hundreds of families across Khadoor Sahib constituency who voted for Brahmpura in 2014, felt cheated. Jagir Kaur said, “Brahmpura’s relatives have now started abandoning him; I wonder the condition of his supporters.”

Majithia claimed that Brahmpura had not even worked for the welfare of his constituents. He added that the MP failed to raise a single issue of his constituency or even Punjab in Parliament for five years.
