Salem Tabri man commits suicide

Ludhiana: Two months before his marriage, a 30-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at his house in New Manoj Nagar, Salem Tabri, on Tuesday morning.

Pankaj Singh worked at a hosiery factory near Salem Tabri. He lived in a rented accommodation along with his co-worker Ganga Ram.

Ganga found him hanging from a ceiling fan and raised the alarm.

“On Monday, Pankaj and I left for the factory together. While I stayed there for the night shift, Pankaj went back home, saying he does not want to work at night. On Tuesday morning when I returned home, I found the room locked from inside.”

When Pankaj did not answer Ganga’s repeated knocks, he broke open the door and found Pankaj hanging from the ceiling fan.

Salem Tabri police station SHO inspector Vijay Kumar said, “Pankaj’s family lives in Uttar Pradesh. His father, Ashok Kumar, is on way to Ludhiana. We will proceed further after recording his father’s statement.”

Pankaj was to get married two months later. “We are yet to ascertain what made him take the extreme step. It will be looked into if he was upset over his marriage,” the SHO added.
