Jamshedpur: Unidentified persons on Saturday night vandalised the election office of BJP rebel and former high-profile minister Saryu Rai in Bagunnagar. On Sunday, Rai’s supporters alleged BJP party workers of orchestrating the act, but no complaint was lodged till the time of filing the report. Rai, too, wasn’t available for comments as he remained busy campaigning. The former minister also refrained from directly accusing BJP for the act.

Notably, Rai is fighting as an Independent candidate against CM Raghubar Das in Jamsedpur East.

Continuing his attack against Das, Rai on Sunday wrote a letter to Narendra Modi demanding Das’s removal as the CM. In the letter, Rai said Das failed to provide ownership rights to slum-dwellers living in 86 slums in Jamshedpur East.

Ahead of the PM’s visit here for a poll rally on December 3, Rai also demanded regularisation of the 86 slums. In the letter, he said, “Central government has announced to legalise 1,731 slums in Delhi. Similarly, the prime minister should also announce ownership rights for the residents of the 86 slums here.”
