SBI Grahak Seva Kendra Fraud: Nuapada Police nabs prime accused

Nuapada:  In a major breakthrough, Nuapada Police arrested one Dasarathi Sunani, administrator of a customer service point of SBI on charges of duping lakhs of rupees from several customers of a nationalized bank.

Nuapada SP Smith Parmar informed that the accused had fraudulently withdrawn money from the bank accounts of several customers of Kurupuri village.

A complaint in this connection was registered on July 15 by the duped customers.

As per reports, the accused committed the crime by rigging the deposit and withdrawal amounts of various customers.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that the accused either used to withdraw more than the amount requested by customers or never deposited money in their bank accounts. We are trying to ascertain whether the accused used some other tricks to dupe the customers,” said Parmar.

As per reports, the State Bank of India (SBI) had set up the customer service centre at Kurumpuri in 2016 to help people, who cannot visit the main branch at Nuapada, deposit and withdraw cash and access other banking facilities without difficulties.

Sources said the official in charge of the kiosk had reportedly embezzled all the money. The matter had come to light after customers did not find any transactions in their bank accounts despite regular deposits.
