School of yogic sciences at Munger University soon

PATNA: More than 250 scientists and academics from different parts of the country attended a two-day national seminar on ‘Science, yoga and innovations: transforming higher education through knowledge interfaces’, organized by Munger University on Wednesday.

Inaugurating the seminar, yoga guru Swami Shivadhyanam Saraswati of Bihar School of Yoga lauded the all-round development of the university within a very short span of time and expressed hope that it would open new vistas of learning in modern branches of knowledge.

He also wished the university would promote yogic studies among its students.

Munger University vice-chancellor Ranjit Kumar Verma, in his presidential address, gave details of the recent initiatives taken by the university for streamlining teaching and examinations and also implementing the university management information system (UMIS) to achieve complete automation in office work. He announced that a full-fledged residential school of yogic sciences would be opened shortly. Besides, 12 other schools already sanctioned by the state government would also be established in the university, he said.

Prominent professors who addressed the seminar on the first day included N B Singh and R M Mehra of Sharda University-Greater Noida, Pradeep Kumar Srivastava of Central Drug Research Institute-Lucknow, Dhruv Kumar Singh of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre-Mumbai and Anil Kumar Singh of IIT-Bombay.

Seminar convener K K Sinha welcomed the guests. Registrar B K Thakur proposed the vote of thanks. A colourful and informative souvenir was also released on the occasion.
