Scindia urges booth workers to counter BJP's 'false propoganda'

Bhopal: AICC general secretary, Jyotiraditya Scindia, in a unique experiment in Congress party is holding one-on-one with booth-level workers in his constituency of Guna-Shivpuri.

He is organizing convention of booth-level party workers, and motivates them to bring out maximum voters on the polling day and counter BJP’s “false” propaganda in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls.

On an average, a booth has a group of eight people, at least one of whom is a woman. Sitting around a table with block and booth no. signified, they wait for their chance to interact with “Maharaj”. The convention taking place in the courtyard of a hotel has at least hundred such tables and hundreds of booth workers.

After a brief address in which Scindia emphasises the role of booth workers in the success of leaders like him, he moves around the courtyard, going to each and every table- congratulating some for doing a good job, reprimanding some others for being slack and asking youngsters to bat like “Sachin” or “Virat”.

In his address, he tells each booth-level worker to visit at least five households in their respective booths and urge them to vote for the Congress. “You will have some, who will respond favourably. Some may have complaints and there would also be people, who would not have a clear opinion. It’s this group of people that has to be convinced. You know “whispers” are already being heard- “chowkidar”, “rashtravad”. You also start whispering “Where is Rs 15 lakh that was supposed to be in your account?” Where are two crore jobs?”

Describing the booth workers as his “army”, he tells them “A chief of army is as strong as his army.”

Then, he comes to electoral issues, too and concludes by saying “It is not the Congress which is contesting nor it’s Jyotiraditya who is contesting election. It’s election for safeguarding our Constitution, to save our institutions. It’s for the farmers and the youth that the election has to be fought and won.”
