SGPC holds state-level event at Kurukshetra

Kurukshetra: The SGPC organized a state-level event here on Saturday under a series of events started in different states dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, where people paid obeisance. Ragis from the Golden Temple enlightened the gathering with kirtan.

Speaking on this occasion, jathedar, Akal Takht, Harpreet Singh said that, “Dedication to Guru Granth Sahib and the Panth is essential to every Sikh and as long as we are connected with both, no one can do any harm to the community.

Guru Nanak attached his Sikhs with Gurbani and congregation and the Sikhs should stay away from the self-declared gurus and deras.”

SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal said that, “In Kurukshetra, Guru Nanak taught the people about life’s truth and purpose. In the present times, there is a need to follow Guru’s teachings to solve human problems and stay away from superstitions.”

SAD president and Ferozepur MP Sukhbir Badal said that, “The Sikh community has established itself following the teachings of the Gurus and the unique identity of its culture and values throughout the world.”

Haryana vice-president of the SGPC Raghujit Singh Virk got the event organisation at Dana Mandi in Kurukshetra, many leaders and saints of community participated and addressed the gathering.
