Shivraj Singh Chouhan to be Madhya Pradesh CM after Diwali: Gopal Bhargava

INDORE: Leader of Opposition (LoP) Gopal Bhargava on Tuesday claimed that BJP national vice president Shivraj Singh Chouhan will again become chief minister after Diwali, provided voters help the party win Jhabua assembly seat.

Congress ministers termed this announcement as election talk and claimed that the party will remain in power in state for the full term.

Bhargava, while addressing a youth meet in Jhabua said, “I promise that he (Chouhan) will take oath as chief minister after Diwali, provided you (voters) ensure victory of Bhanu Bhuria by a huge margin.”

However, on reaching Indore, Bhargava held a press conference and clarified it to be a mere ‘Chunavi Bhashan’. “It was a mere election speech. I said it while addressing a meeting organized by Yuva Morcha in Jhabua. It’s a ‘Chunavi Bhashan’ and no other meaning from it should be explored,” the LoP said.

He added that such decisions are taken by senior leaders and he has no right to make any such comment.

Chouhan, who addressed the audience after Bhargava, referred to chief minister Kamal Nath as a mouse that became tiger with blessings (votes) of sage (electors) and started anarchy. “You (voters) should teach a lesson to the tiger and make him a mouse again by giving blessings to BJP,” he said.

The event also saw controversial statement from Jhabua-Ratlam MP GS Damor, who alleged that Congress candidate Kantilal Bhuria is unstable. “Mental condition of Congress candidate Kantilal Bhuria is not stable. He can’t see, hear and speak properly. You (voters) should not waste you vote by giving it to the wrong person as he has only exploited tribal people.”

State minister and Congress leader Kamleshwar Patel said that Bhargava and BJP leaders are day dreaming as Congress has majority to comfortably complete five years of government. “MLAs choose chief minister, not Gopal Bhargava. We have the required majority of MLAs to comfortably complete five years in government.”

He alleged that with such statements, BJP is misleading people and trying to mount pressure on bureaucrats. At the end, they will be disappointed and Congress will win Jhabua.
