Shri Krishna Janmashtami 2020: Listen to these Krishna bhajans and songs to celebrate the auspicious day

Shri Krishna Janmashtami is just around the corner. On this day, devotees of Shri Krishna shall perform puja during Nishita Kaal (midnight) to welcome baby Krishna to their home. This year people shall observe the 5247th birth anniversary of Lord Krishna.

Shri Krishna was the ninth avatar (incarnation of Lord Vishnu), who took birth on the earth to restore peace and Dharma. He also explained the fundamental teachings and essence of life to Arjuna in the form of Bhagavad Gita on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. During his avatar, Lord Krishna also taught invaluable life lessons.

His friendship with Sudama and Draupadi continues to inspire the newer generations, and his bond with Radha narrates the beauty and divinity of the emotion called love.

So as the festivities begin, check out the list Shri Krishna Bhajans and songs that you can listen to, during the joyous occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami.

Lord Krishna was born on the Ashtami Tithi (eighth) day in the month of Bhadrapada during Krishna Paksha (waning phase of the Moon) to Devaki and Vasudev in Mathura. The royal couple was held captive by Kansa (Devaki's cousin), a tyrant who had turned greedy for powder. On the day of Devaki and Vasudev's marriage, a divine prophecy asked Kansa to be cautious of Devaki and Vasudev's eighth child, who would become the cause of his death. Therefore, Kansa, in a desperate attempt to save himself, ended up committing sins after sins. He killed all the seven babies of Devaki, and by doing so, added more crimes to the list of sins he had committed.

Here's wishing one and all a very happy Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
