Singapore-bound flight makes emergency landing at Chennai airport after 'spark' in engine

A Singapore-bound plane made emergency landing at Chennai airport after the pilot detected smoke in the aircraft cargo, reported ANI news agency. As per reports, citing officials, there was a “spark” in the engine, following which the flight was made to land at the Chennai airport.

All the 161 passengers and crew members, who were onboard the plane when the incident occurred, were disembarked safely.

They were provided accomodation at city hootels. The flight was currently grounded at Chennai airport and is expected to fly back to Singapore today evening as technicians were fixing the snag.

The pilot of the flight reportedly detected smoke coming out of the engine while the plane was still flying in the Indian airspace. He immediately contacted Chennai airport authorities seeking permission to make emergency landing.

The Chennai airport granted its permission and the plane landed safely. The flight TR 567 belonged to Singapore based Scoot Airways and had taken off from Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirapalli (Trichy).
