Sisters from Madhya Pradesh arrested for thefts in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Two sisters from Madhya Pradesh were arrested on Saturday for allegedly stealing Rs 1 lakh in two separate incidents in south Delhi. Accused Lalita (25) and Damini (22), residents of Rajgarh district, were arrested after cops scanned the CCTV footage of the sites of robbery and found the sisters moving suspiciously at both places.

DCP Atul Thakur said the sisters used to visit Delhi and other states during festive and wedding season in search of targets. They used to mainly focus on banks, ATM kiosks, shops, busy markets and crowded areas.

On November 6, Prem Tiwari withdrew Rs 50,000 from a bank and was on his way to Dharmshala Mandir in Chhatarpur. However, upon reaching there, he found the cash missing. Similarly, on November 8, Arun Kumar reported to cops that Rs 50,000 had been stolen from his bag when he was at a bank in Kotla Mubarakpur. CCTV footage showed the sisters at both the places.
