Six goons in MP hold man at knifepoint, rape his wife, daughter

INDORE: A woman and her 12-year-old daughter were gangraped by six masked men as the woman’s husband was held with a knife to his throat in MP’s Burhanpur late Friday night.

No suspect has been identified yet, and the police are banking on forensic evidence to give them a breakthrough.

Khargone range DIG Tilak Singh, who is supervising the investigation, has spoken to the traumatized family.

Over 50 people have been interrogated till now and several suspects have been detained, he said.

The family lives near a mine where the man works as a guard. The family was fast asleep when the armed gang barged into their house and started beating the guard. The robbers took whatever little money he had and then dragged the woman and child off to nearly agricultural fields where they took turns to rape them.

Horrific crime took place at secluded area

A 65-year-old, neighbour tried to save them, but he too was beaten and held hostage. One of the robbers would keep the men at knifepoint while the rest sexually assaulted the mother and daughter.

Since it’s a remote area, the horrific crime went unnoticed till Saturday when the mine owner went on his regular visit. He alerted police, and senior officers sped to the scene of crime with forensic specialists. Hair and some shirt buttons were found at the crime scene and bagged for lab tests.

“The nearest village is 5km away. We searched it thoroughly and tried to find CCTV footage, but nothing has come up yet,” said DIG, adding that the spot is very secluded and surrounded by banana farms. Apart from the family and a 65-year-old neighbour, No one else saw the criminals.
