Six honoured for inspiring society

Nagpur: Six people who have made a significant contribution to their respective field were conferred Mahila Sakshamikaran Prayas Puraskar at a programme held at Ranjan Sabhagruh of Matru Seva Sangh, Sitabuldi, on Monday.

The programme was organized by Kamlatai Hospet Stree Sahayyak Mandal .

Recipients of the award included Jaishree Kothe, Suvarna Damle, Sunanda Khorgade, Vrudan Bavankar, Tanul Vikamshi and Sujata Bhagat.

These people have not only contributed their bit to the society but also inspired people to work hard in pursuit of their goal.

Kothe, who has been working for the uplift of tribals for the past 30 years, said she has helped over one lakh people so far. “By explaining the importance of cleanliness and education, I lay emphasis on educating tribal kids so that they could shape their future,” said Kothe.

Expressing her gratitude, Damle said, “It is wonderful that the organization is making efforts to take the work being done by us to the masses. The appreciation has left me speechless.”

Khorgade dedicated her award to those who have been part of her journey that she began as a social worker. Mentioning her husband’s contribution, she said, “It is because of him that I thought of coming out of my comfort zone and work for the betterment of the society.”

Noted painter Vikamshi is a great inspiration for people as he did not allow his disability to come in his way of getting success. He said knowledge should be passed on to the future generation and added that he always try to inculcate values in students that he learnt from teachers and experience.

Director of the organization Sheela Rao spoke about the works of the awardees.

Girish Wazalwar, Bhagyashree Gandhe, Nanda Khare, Lata Deshmukh, Shubhada Deshmukh and others were felicitated on the occasion.

Secretary Meena Shelgaokar conducted the programme.
