Six surrender before Odisha court in Nayagarh kidnap & murder case

Nayagarh: As many as six persons accused in a kidnap and murder case in Odisha’s Nayagarh district surrendered before the court of JMFC, Odagaon today.

Prime accused Jyotirmaya Mohanty alias Kaalu and five others were arrested and forwarded to court. All of them were allegedly involving in abducting and murdering Rabi Pradhan of Kalyanpur village under Sarankul police limits in the district.

The deceased had gone missing on June 14 and his mother had lodged a complaint in this regard at the Sarankul police station alleging that her son was kidnapped over political rivalry.

Investigating into the matter, cops had arrested one Balakrushna of Jamujhola village on July 4. While interrogating him, the entire episode came to fore.

Rabi was kidnapped by the accused and later burnt to death at a forest in Tangi area of Khordha district. The body was then buried at the spot.

The body was exhumed by police and sample was sent for DNA test to ascertain the identity.
