Six tonnes of ganja worth Rs 7 crore seized, two arrested

Visakhapatnam: Two persons were nabbed with six tonne of dry ganja worth Rs 7 crore which was seized by the special task force teams of the excise department with the support of Vizag Rural police at Biroguda tribal hamlet under Munchingiput mandal in Vizag Agency on Tuesday.

Based on concrete information, the officials had carried out a surprise raid and seized the contraband which was stored in a house at the village.

The officials from Anakapalle, and Paderu participated in the raid. As one of the culprits was identified as K Trinadh (30), who was guarding the contraband, the other one is yet to be identified. The officials suspect the weed was being procured from the parts of Chitrakonda in Odisha. They are on the lookout for the major culprits.

Excise Inspector, Anakapalle, D Anil Kumar, said “The gang procured ganja to transport it to Delhi through various routes said. We are investigating the case in various aspects to nab all the accused in the case.
