Sonipat: 4 held while plotting robbery

CHANDIGARH: In a major breakthrough, Haryana Police have busted a gang of robbers with the arrest of four of its members in Sonipat district . At least 12 cases of theft and robbery have been solved with their arrest.


A spokesman of the police department said the cops had also seized three country-made pistols and 11 cartridges and recovered two vehicles, including a bike, from their possession.



Following a tip-off, Wakeel, a resident of Tharaya in Sonipat, and Gulfam, Aslam and Islam, all natives of Uttar Pradesh, were nabbed while planning to execute another loot in the district. During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed to having committed various incidents of loot, including stealing a Bolero pick-up and three bikes, from Sonipat and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

The spokesman said Sonipat police had got secret information that some youths having illegal weapons were plotting to loot passers-by near Kami village. Acting swiftly, the cops immediately rushed to the spot and nabbed all four accused. Islam has also been declared proclaimed offender and bail jumper in connection with 15 incidents of theft and robbery in Panipat and Karnal. A case was registered against them. All were produced before a court, which sent them to judicial custody.
