Sonipat man arrested for kidnapping lawyer

Hisar: Hisar police have arrested a Sonipat resident in a six-month-old case of car robbery, kidnapping and Rs 50 lakh ransom.

Mahipal, a resident of Jagsi village in Sonipat district, had kidnapped senior advocate Hari Singh Boora of Hisar and demanded Rs 50 lakh for his release. A case was registered at Hisar city police station against four persons on the complaint of Boora on September 9, 2018 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Boora told cops that on the day of the incident, he had gone to meet a client in his car and was waiting for him at the Hisar bus stand when some people in an SUV asked him about directions to Salasar. He said that while he was talking to them, the SUV occupants entered his car and pushed him to the back seat. They blindfolded him and gagged him while driving away in the direction of the Delhi Road.

He said they demanded Rs 50 lakhs as ransom, but when he told them that he did not have not so much money, they lowered the demand to Rs 25 lakhs. However, when he refused to give the amount, the miscreants beat him up and pushed him out of the vehicle near Mahm before fleeing away in his car.
