Sonipat: Medicos in insurance scam withdraws anticipatory bail

CHANDIGARH: Sonipat based medico, Ambuj Jain on Wednesday withdrew his petition for the anticipatory bail in the infamous insurance claims scam targeting the cancer patients. He is from the civil hospital. Jain is accused receiving the paybacks of Rs one lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh from the Pawan Bhoria gang in the lieu of performing the autopsies of cancer victims as accidents victims.


Conforming the development, DSP Shamsher Singh, in charge of SIT probing the scam said, “We were supposed to receive copy of petition for submission of reply. But their lawyer had already moved an application to withdraw the petition.’’ Anyhow, our teams are already on the move and are conducting raids on his possible hideouts to arrest, him he added. According to information, Jain is an important element of the chain of accused including Pawan Bhoria, the Sonipat resident advocate turned accused. Meanwhile, in a related development the judicial magistrate on Tuesday remanded Pawan Bhoria to the judicial custody. Bhoria was in custody since last Friday.

Notably, the special task force (STF) of Haryana police had unearthed the insurance scam targeting cancer patients getting treatment from PGIMS Rohtak and other medical institutions. Eight persons, who included the lawyer, technician, computer operator, policeman and two kins of the victims for their involvement.
