Sriganganagar to soon get train linking Jaipur and Mumbai

JAIPUR: People of Sriganganagar and other parts of Shekhawati will have to wait for a few more days for the introduction of the train that would connect both Jaipur and Mumbai.

The direct train from Sriganganagar to Bandra Terminal via Jaipur was scheduled to be kicked-off on Saturday, but due to technical reasons, NWR has decided to come up with fresh dates again.

The proposed train would also connect Churu, Fatehpur and Sikar .

“There was some technical reason. We will announce the train soon,” said Abhay Sharma, chief public relations officer, NWR, on Sunday.

After the conversion of tracks from metre gauge to broad gauge, NWR started a Delhi to Jaipur train that connects Dehar Ke Balaaji ,Chomu, Ringas, Sikar, Jhunjhunu and Chirawa in Rajasthan and Mahendragarh, Rewari and Gurugram in Haryana. Two more trains, Churu-Jaipur and Sikar-Jaipur DEMU, also operate on this route.

The proposed train has been long awaited by the people including those who serve in army and paramilitary forces. “Railways had announced the train and suddenly said fresh dates to launch services would be announced. The Sriganganagar-Jaipur train is already running. I hope they will merge it with Jaipur-Bandra train soon,” said Satvinder Singh, a retired officer from CISF based in Sriganganagar.
