Steering away from crowded Murthal, biker clubs explore pit stops on NH-10, Hapur Road

For the longest time, Murthal – which used to be just another village in Haryana – has been the spot for biker clubs to stop for breakfast. However, moving on from the hotspot, biker clubs are now exploring more options for their morning rides as the good ol’ Murthal has become “overcrowded and boring”.

‘I just don’t want to bump into a neighbour’

Bikers express their dismay at the increasing family crowd at dhabas and restaurants in Murthal. “I think it was more than five years ago that the biking community started the trend of breakfast rides, after which Murthal became popular. Today, even families drive down every weekend to have paranthas at Murthal. Earlier, it used to be fun, but now, there are high chances that I could bump into a neighbour, which I don’t want,” says Pankaj Singh, a biking enthusiast from Indirapuram and a member of a biking club with over 50 members.
Vinay Anand, a rider from Sector 50, Noida, adds, “Breakfast rides are for us to just relax and feel like bachelors for a few hours. None of us are interested in sitting next to families at that time. Plus, it has become very crowded and getting a good spot also becomes a headache.”

‘Swimming pool rides’ are the new trend for bikers
With the rising heat in the city, riding a two wheeler even in the early hours can be tough. In order to beat the heat, bikers now plan their journeys on a route where they can go to highway hotels that have swimming pools.
“In the past few months, a new trend of going for ‘swimming pool rides’ has emerged among biker clubs. There are various hotels and resorts located on NH-8, NH-48 and NH-1 where we can have breakfast and relax in the pool,” says Ankit Bhatnagar, a biking enthusiast from Gurgaon and a member of a biking club with around 500 members.

New cafes are now catering to biker clubs by offering adventure sports like off-roading. Seen here are members of the Delhi Royal Enfield Riders at an off-roading track on the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road

Adventure sports, bike-themed cafes cater to biker clubs
With the rising number of biker clubs, new cafes and companies offering adventure sports for bikers have mushroomed near highways as well. “A couple of off-roading tracks like the one at the Throttle Shrottle Moto Ranch near the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road (GFR), is a hit among bikers as we can eat and go off-roading there. They are fun for superbikers as well,” adds Ankit.
Ritu Rathi, a biker from Greater Noida , adds, “New bike-themed cafes which have opened on GFR and NH-8 have made our riding experience even better. Besides being a cafe, The Moto Zeil Cafe and Brewery on Sohna Road also rents out superbikes. Recycle Cafe on NH-8 and Free Bird Cafe on GFR are other favourites ,which are not exclusively for bikers, but do attract us.”

While on their mission to find new eateries, members of a Noida bike club found a new place to satisfy their parantha cravings in Rohtak

Bikers explore new routes, pit stops
Skipping the usual GT Road for rides, bikers are exploring other highways on the outskirts of Delhi, where existing restaurants and dhabas are gaining popularity.
“We have now started riding on NH-10, Hapur Road and Yamuna Expressway . On NH-10, Parantha Junction in Rohtak, which claims to serve the biggest parantha
in India, has become popular among bikers. We found and now frequently visit Shiv Dhaba and Grand Cheetal on Hapur Road as well,” says Ishan Sharma, a biker from Sector 20, Noida, who runs a biker club which has over 70 members from Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida. Ishan adds that they did extensive research on the dhabas and restaurants on these highways to select new stops for breakfast.
The Yamuna Expressway is another favourite. “For superbikers, the Yamuna Expressway is like heaven. Earlier, there were not many restaurants and cafes along the way. But now, eateries like Highway Masala and JollyGo Food Court give bikers another reason to take that route for their morning rides,” says Salil Chouksey, a superbike enthusiast from Mayur Vihar.
