Strawberry finch spotted in Mysuru

Also known as red munia , this beautiful red avadavat was recently photographed on Mysuru-Bannur road. Popular for its bright plumage, this sparrow-like bird is often found in open fields and the grasslands of tropical Asia. The bird was spotted carrying a feather in its beak, indicating that monsoon is the nesting time for this species.
