Subsidy likely for hotels & adventure tourism projects

Indore: The Madhya Pradesh government is laying red carpet for private investments in tourism. Aiming to bring branded chain of hotels and adventure tourism in the state, the government is offering attractive subsidies on new projects introducing rope ways and hot air balloons at tourist destinations.

The government also plans to offer 20 to 30% subsidy to branded hotels and resorts on land and building if they invest in state.

The state plans to offer 50 per cent subsidy on projects of hot air balloons and 40 per cent on rope ways, according to sources in the tourism department. A source from tourism department seeking anonymity said, “This is first time any state is offering subsidy to branded hotels in a bid to invite them in MP. As per proposal, branded hotels will get attractive subsidies in different categories if they choose to set up facility in state.”

Government is promoting tourism and a special session has been planned on the day of the investors meet on October 18. Tourism is one of the eight core sectors that will be discussed in the summit. The state is also promoting wayside amenities, land parcels located at Mandu, Khajuraho, Pench, Alirajpur and Jhabua among others and back waters at Omkareshwar to attract investments. As per the latest confirmations received from guests, around 900 industrialists are likely to participate in the summit.

According to industry department, 673 industrialists has confirmed their participation as on Sunday, while 250 are expected to confirm by Tuesday. An official said, “It looks like about 900 top industrialists are likely to attend the meet. Conformations have already come from close to 700 and rest is likely by early next week.” Official said announcement of sectoral industrial policy is seen as giving an impetus to industrial development in the state.
