Surat: Woman in end-stage cancer to plant 2,500 trees

Surat: A city-based non-government organisation (NGO) working for environment protection has come forward to fulfil the wish of a woman suffering from terminal cancer.

Suruchi Vadalia (27), suffering from last-stage multiple mylema cancer, has been made brand ambassador of ‘Clean India, Green India’ movement started from the city-based Heart@Work foundation.

She will be planting 2,500 sapling of different tree species for protecting environment. Even though her health doesn’t permit her to travel, Vadalia has promised the NGO that she will accompany them to plant the trees.

Viral Desai of Heart@Work foundation told TOI, “We came to know about Vadalia’s last wish to plant more trees few days ago. Since we are running ‘Clean India, Green India’ movement from the last few months, we decided to take her on-board and make her our brand ambassador.”

Vadalia said, “I don’t know for how many days I am going to live. But, I have a wish to plant maximum trees so that my brethren in the city stay protected from the hazardous air pollution.
