Tamil Nadu: 75-day-old girl raped by father; mother approaches police

Chennai: In a shocking incident, a 75-day-old baby girl was allegedly raped by her father at Andhiyur in Erode district of Tamil Nadu on Monday. Following the heinous crime, the survivor’s mother approached the Bhavani all-woman police and got the accused arrested.

According to the complainant, her 40-year-old husband had tried to rape the infant two weeks week ago when she was not inside the house.

However, before he could commit the heinous act, she came inside and stopped him. She also warned him to stay away from their daughter.

S Gajalakshmi, police sub-inspector, said that on Monday, the woman left the baby girl inside the house and went out for some work. While going out, she warned her husband again to stay away from their daughter.

Man rapes daughter in wife's absence

However, the man raped the child in his wife’s absence. Later when the woman came back, she noticed injuries to their daughter’s private parts.

According to a report by The Times of India, she took the child to the primary health centre located at Alampalayam. The baby was referred to Salem Government Mohan Kumaramgalam Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Reportedly, the child is in a stable condition.

After getting arrested, the man confessed that he raped the baby when his wife was outside. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

Another incident

In another incident, a 10-year-old mentally challenged girl was allegedly raped and murdered by her brother and his three friends on the outskirts of Jaipur in Rajasthan. The girl went missing on May 17 and her body was recovered on May 21 from a nearby forest within the limits of the Manoharpur Police. The investigating officials examined the call records of likely culprits and zeroed in on the four accused. Later, the deceased minor’s brother confessed to the crime.
