Tamil Nadu: Seven nurses test positive in Tiruvannamalai

TIRUVANNAMALAI: Twenty-one people, including seven nurses working at the Covid-19 isolation ward of Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College and Hospital, tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday.

A senior health department official said in order to treat Covid-positive patients, more than 300 nurses were deployed at Tiruvannamalai hospital and at Cheyyar Government Hospital in the district.

Swabs are collected from all the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff, once in three weeks.

On Monday, blood samples were collected from more than 40 nurses working in the isolation ward, seven of whom tested positive.

The nurses were asymptomatic and are stable.

They are undergoing treatment at the Tiruvannamalai government hospital's corona isolation ward. Tiruvannamalai collector K S Kandasamy said: "In Tiruvannamalai, swab samples were taken from 21,467 people. Among them, results were received for 20,797; 670 results are awaited."
