Teen murders: Hajipur still on the boil

HYDERABAD: At least 30 villagers of Hajipur on Saturday staged a protest demanding capital punishment for Srinivas Reddy , who allegedly raped and killed three minor girls.


"A group of villagers has been on hunger strike for the past two days. Today also, they staged a protest at the village. As they did not have permission, we dispersed the crowd,” assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Bhongir , Bhujanga Rao said.



The protest went on from 12.30pm to 1pm after which the villagers went to the collector's office demanding compensation to the victims’ families. “They also demanded capital punishment for the accused person,” the officer added.

Srinivas Reddy was arrested for allegedly raping and killing three minor girls on the outskirts of Hajipur village and burying their bodies in two wells, including the one in his own farm.. On interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to the crimes.

Rachakonda police are planning to move a petition before court seeking custody of Srinivas Reddy, who has been lodged at the Warangal central prison.
