Telangana: Body of Covid-19 patient transported in a tractor

HYDERABAD: The body of a Covid-19 patient who died at the district hospital in Jagtial was transported in a tractor for the last rites as no ambulance was immediately available.


The patient from Dwakaranagar in Jagitial was admitted in the hospital a few days back and was treated in the isolation ward.

He died on Monday. The municipal authorities performed the last rites following Covid-19 protocols with the municipal staff wearing PPE kits and a police vehicle accompanying the tractor. This is not the first time that a body was taken in a tractor for performing the last rites of a coronavirus victim. In July, Dr Pendyala Sriram, district surveillance officer of Peddapalli district drove a tractor with the body as there was no ambulance available and none of the municipality drivers were willing to drive the tractor.
