Terminated Congress MLA files nomination in Vellore

VELLORE : Drama ensued on the last day of Vellore nominations as Ex-MLA of Ranipet assembly constituency and former functionary of congress party, Walaja J Hassain, filed his nomination on Thursday afternoon .

The 76-year-old former Tamil Nadu state general secretary of congress party , who was terminated in 2011 for his anti-party works, still claimed to its member .

He said he was backed by his party high commands in New Delhi .

Addressing the reporters , Hassain said that he had earlier enrolled as a grass root level worker in DMK party four decades ago. He was later promoted as one of the five core committee members to form DMK Youth wing.

“Disappointed after I was denied a ticket to contest in the 1989 assembly election, I quit DMK and was elected as an independent MLA for Ranipet assembly constituency. I joined congress party in 2007 and was appointed as Tamil Nadu state general secretary. I remain the loyalist member and of congress party” Hassain added .

The Vellore election is not between two candidates who will voice for the citizens of the constitution at parliament, but a battle between two business men to prove their supremacy and to multiple their wealth and assets , he added.

When TOI contacted T K Raman District congress committee president Vellore corporation, he stated Hassain had contested as Independent against the Congress candidate Gnanasekaran in Vellore assembly election after his termination in 2011. Raman informed the termination has not been revoked yet and warned of stringent action against him for trying to tamper the reputation of the congress party .
