Thiruvananthapuram: Two ganja peddlers held

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two youngsters landed in the custody of Parasala railway police here on Friday morning while trying to smuggle 2kg ganja from Tamil Nadu .


The accused, Sibin (22) of Poonthura and Nadirsha (24) of Pachalloor were arrested during a combing operation on board the Madurai-Punalur passenger train.

A case under Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against the accused.

According to an officer, the accused procured the ganja from Madurai and were bringing the stuff to the district for sale in schools and colleges.

Based on the directives of district railway police inspector Jayakumar, a team led by Parassala RPS station house officer inspector Sarath Kumar P R, and included SIs Abdul Wahab, Sreekumaran Nair; ASI Christudas; SCPO Sivakumar; and CPOs Baiju and Asokh M S, made the arrests.
