This weekend could be a wet one in Madhya Pradesh

BHOPAL: The state capital and other parts of Madhya Pradesh basked in clear sunlight on Thursday, but the possibility of thundery development has not been ruled out over the weekend, said weather officials.


Officials at the Meteorological department, Bhopal circle, said there is a cyclone in the Arabian Sea, which would intensify and convert into a severe phase in a day’s time.

It will have impact in parts of the state, including Bhopal, Indore and Hoshangabad divisions.

Weather officials said that due to the presence of moisture in the air, the night temperature is not plummeting across the state. The cyclone in Arabian Sea would have an impact in MP between November 2 and November 4, officials added.

The day temperature in Bhopal on Thursday was at the normal mark, while night temperature was above normal. The maximum temperature was recorded at 31.2 degree Celsius, while the night temperature was recorded at 20.8 degree Celsius, which was four degrees more than normal. The wind direction was northerly, while the average wind speed was 12 kilometres per hour.

Dhar recorded 7mm rainfall between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Thursday. Rainfall was not recorded in any other parts of the state during this time slot.

In Friday’s forecast for Bhopal, Met officials said that there would be largely an overcast sky with possibility of rain. The day and night temperatures will be around 31 degree Celsius and 20 degree Celsius respectively, while the average wind speed will be around 12 kilometres per hour.

In the forecast for the state, Met officials have underlined the possibility of rain at places such as Raisen, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Sehore, Hoshangabad, Betul, Harda, Khandwa, Khargone, Burhanpur, Dhar, Indore, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Barwani, Ratlam, Ujjain, Dewas, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat and Mandla.
