Three arrested with 230kg poppy husk in Panchkula

PANCHKULA: A team of the Panchkula crime investigation agency seized 230.340 kg poppy husk from two trucks on Wednesday. Three persons have arrested in the case. The accused brought poppy husk from Gujarat .


The CIA officials said they received information that contraband was being supplied in Panchkula.

They then set up check posts at the Chandimandir toll plaza around 7.30 pm.

Two trucks were found coming towards the check post and the police found five sacks of poppy husk in five plastic drums in one of the trucks. The poppy husk weighed 200 kg.

The accused truck driver has been identified as Raj Kumar, a resident of Rampur Seudi, Pinjore . He has been booked under the NDPS Act at Chandimandir police station.

The police came to know that there was another truck carrying 30.340 kg poppy husk, which was also coming towards the check post on the Kalka-Zirakpur highway. The police then stopped the truck and recovered 30.340 kg poppy husk and arrested the driver.
