Three cattle thieves held for gang-rape of 10-year-old girl in Etah

Agra: Three days after a 10-year-old girl was abducted from her house and gang raped in a farm field, Etah district police has arrested three cattle thieves allegedly involved in the heinous crime.

The three accused were identified as Arif Khan of Nadrai, Kasganj district, Israr and Kalua Khan of Agra district.

The trio is charged under IPC section 376 (D) (Gangrape), 363 (punishment for kidnapping) and POCSO Act.

According to police, the three accused abducted the survivor on August 25 in the wee hours while she was sleeping on a cot along with her younger sister in the open area of her house which is adjacent to the main road of the village. The incident happened under Awagadh police jurisdiction.

Etah superintendent of police Sunil Kumar Singh said, “Initially, the objective of three accused was to steal the two buffaloes from the survivor’s house for which they recceed the place before. However, when they reached survivor’s house, they couldn’t find the cattle as it was tied in her uncle’s barn. Infuriated, the accused abducted the teenage girl by gagging her and raped her in a nearby farm field.”

“The matter came to light when the girl returned home bleeding profusely from the abdomen and alerted her parents who rushed her to the nearby community health centre after informing the police. She was referred to Aligarh for higher treatment. During probe, our team found the blood soaked blanket used in the rape and also the rope brought by the thieves to steal the buffaloes. Forensic team will now collect semen sample from the three accused to match with the survivor’s vaginal swab sample,” he added.

CO Jalesar Gurmeet Singh, who visited the survivor at Aligarh government hospital on Thursday, said, “The condition of the girl is now stable. She is able to narrate the sequence of events. We will conduct an identification parade of the three accused.”
