Three escape roof collapse at Patiala civil surgeon's office

PATIALA: As many as three employees of the Patiala health department had a miraculous escape as the roof of the Civil Surgeon 's office came down crumbling on Tuesday. The incident occurred at around 12 noon when the three employees were not present in the room.


The workers had gone out on official duty.

Civil surgeon Harish Malhotra said that they are yet to assess the damage caused to the office furniture while they have written to the public works department to look into the cause of the incident.

They have also asked for a detailed survey of the building to be conducted to ensure that other parts of the building were safe and such incidents do not occur in future. He said it appeared that the incident was triggered by the rains but it was the task of the engineers of the department to ascertain the exact cause.

He said the cupboards and other furniture kept in the room was damaged in the incident.
