Three of UP family die in Baran road mishap, two critical

KOTA: Three persons of a family from Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh were killed on the spot while two others of the family sustained critical injuries on Saturday early morning after the car in which they were travelling hit a stationary truck and then fell into a drain. The accident occurred near Mamoni village on NH – 27 under Shahabad police station of Baran district.

The three bodies were later on Saturday handed over to the family members after post-mortem while the two critically injured were referred to a government hospital in Kota after primary medical care in Baran.


The three deceased were identified as Naresh Chand Singh (75), his son Sandeep Singh (44) and his 14-year-old granddaughter (Sandeep’s daughter). The two others of the family are Durgesh Nandani (Sandeep’s wife) and her son Hayan Singh (16) who sustained critical injuries in the mishap.

Deceased Naresh Chand Singh was a retired colonel while his son Sandeep had also retired from the Indian Army . The family was currently living in Ahmedabad in Gujarat .

The five were travelling by car to their destination on Saturday morning when at around 6.45 am the accident occurred, said assistant sub inspector at Shahabad police station, Ramesh Chand Meena. The truck driver fled after the mishap, however, his vehicle has been seized and a case against unidentified truck driver lodged, Meena said adding that efforts are underway to nab him.
