Three swept away in Bhilwara district

Ajmer: Bhilwara district and surrounding areas received heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours, following which the district administration announced holiday in schools. Three people were swept away in the rainwater in Saliya village of Shahpura block of the district. Rescue team is searching for the trio.

Bhaduro ka Kheda village in Kachola turned into an island with around 20 feet water all around it.

Sarpanch Ramgopal Meena said that with the help of the administration, 17 families were rescued through boats. The Pratap Sagar near Kachola on Friday morning overflowed after 15 years, flooding the village nearby and around 17 families of the village were stranded.

In Mandalgarh, 237mm rains were recorded, while 236mm was recorded in Kachola, 117mm in Bhilwara, 112mm in Hurda, and 181mm in Mandal. In last two days, 668mm of rainfall was recorded in the district.

Bhilwara city was waterlogged on Friday. Motorists faced trouble in areas like Adarsh Nagar and Subhash Nagar and water entered many houses in Mochi Mohalla. According to sources, there are more than two dozen villages which have been disconnected due to roads being flooded and people are living without electricity in many of these villages. District administration has initiated a rescue operation and the situation is has been reported to state government for further action.
