Tirupati: Minor held for bike theft, 12 bikes seized

TIRUPATI: A minor was arrested in connection to a series of bike thefts registered at various towns under the jurisdiction of the urban police wing on Monday. 12 motorcycles were also recovered.


Speaking to the media at the district police office in Tirupati on Monday, SP KKN Anburajan said MR Palle police inspector Mansooruddin and his team were conducting vehicular checks at Ramanujapalle check-post at 6.30am on Sunday when they noticed a minor suspiciously taling a u-turn on his bike after seeing the police.



The cops followed the boy and took him into custody. Upon questioning, the boy confessed that he was a bike thief. “In fact, the bike which he was riding was also a stolen one reported at the MR Palle police station.

The boy confessed that he and two other accomplices identified as Santosh and Vinay have been stealing bikes in Srikalahasti, Chandragiri, Tiruchanoor and Tirupati towns since June 2018. He was recently arrested by the Tiruchanoor police in a similar case but got out on bail,” said Anburajan.

Acting on the information, Tirupati urban police seized 12 motorbikes worth approximately Rs 5.65 lakh.
