Tirupati: Panchayat official's home raided, assets seized

Tirupati: Anti-Corruption Bureau ( ACB ) sleuths conducted searches at properties linked to an assistant executive engineer working in the Panchayat Raj department in Anantapur district and unearthed assets disproportionate to the disclosed income of the official on Friday. The official, identified as Suresh Reddy, was PA to former MP JC Divakar Reddy in the past.



According to ACB DSP M Nagabushanam, following a search warrant issued by a local court, searches were carried out at the residence of Suresh Reddy in Ramnagar locality in Anantapur town, while parallel searches were also carried out at Bethamcherla in Kurnool district and two other places in Puttaparthi—said to be his relatives’ properties.

By Friday afternoon, ACB sleuths found that Suresh Reddy owned several properties and one acre of land in Puttaparthi. The book value of these assets was estimated to be around Rs 4 crore, while the market value of the assets could be much higher.

Sleuths also unearthed Rs 5 lakh cash, 300 grams gold and two vehicles registered in Suresh Reddy’s family’s name. The official will be produced before the local ACB court on Saturday.
