Trader killed, wife shot at in East Champaran district

MOTIHARI: A trader Subodh Kumar Pandey alias Bhagwan (40), was killed on Wednesday near his house at Kasba Tola of Shankar Saraiya village under Turkauliya police station of East Champaran district.

An attack was made on him by his neighbours with a sharp-edged weapon and he died on the spot. Wife of the deceased trader, Bina Devi, who rushed to save her husband, was also shot at by attackers.

She has been admitted to a private hospital.

Turkauliya police station SHO Akhilesh Kumar Pandey said that Pramod Kumar, brother of the deceased, has lodged a case against five named accused and police have already arrested three of them—Puja Devi , Asmita Devi and Rina Devi— and rest of the two accused— Munnu Pandey and Sonu Pandey are absconding.

Pramod in the FIR alleged that his brother Subodh was a prime witness to a criminal case pending in court against Munnu and Sonu. He was frequently being threatened by Munnua and Sonu. On Wednesday, he was attacked with sharp weapons by Puja, Asmita and Rina Devi and as soon as he fell on the ground, Munnu and Sonu opened fired killing him on the spot. TNN
