Traffic in city to be restricted on Dhanteras, Diwali

Kanpur: The traffic police department has imposed traffic curbs in some areas of the city ahead of Dhanteras and Diwali festivals. The traffic restrictions, to come into force from 3 pm on Friday, will continue till October 27.

The traffic department has also made arrangements for parking facilities for the shoppers.

Vehicles would not be allowed to move towards Corset crossing and Naveen Market from Lal Imli. Traffic coming from Colonelganj crossing will be diverted through Lal Imli crossing, Silverton crossing to reach the VIP Road and Meghdoot Hotel. Vehicles will not move from Chetna Chauraha to Bada Chauraha, Meston Road and Naveen Market after 3 pm. Traffic will not be allowed to move from Phoolbagh towards Birhana Road and from Ghantaghar to Birhana Road. It would be diverted towards the Sirki Mohal route.

The route from Narohna crossing to Ghantaghar, via the Express Road, will remain curbed for traffic movement. The traffic will be allowed to proceed via Canal Road, but no vehicle will go between Gopal Talkies to Jawahar Nagar. They may go towards GT Road via Brahm Nagar Chauraha.

Similarly, no vehicle would be allowed to proceed towards Gumti No.5 via New Basant Talkies and no heavy vehicle will reach Gumti No.-5 via Jai Hind Chauraha or Sant Nagar Chauraha and towards P Road and Bajariya. However, they can go towards Sisamau.

Vehicles will be allowed to move between Chawla Market and CTI Chauraha and from Chawla Market to Nandlal Chauraha. No vehicle will be allowed to reach Chakeri via Harjinder Nagar.

The officials of the traffic department have made some arrangements of temporary parking spots in the city to ease traffic congestion in places such as in front of Naveen Market, opposite PPN Market, opposite Gurudwara near 80-Foot Road, CTI Chauraha, outside Phoolbagh, Arya Nagar, Modern Shop Benajhabar Road, Kamla Nagar, Ramlila Park and behind New Basant Talkies in the Central Park.
