Two AMU students booked by Aligarh police

Agra: Two students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) were booked by police for allegedly posting something “inappropriate” on social media on the occasion of Eid.

The duo have been booked under sections 153A (promoting disharmony, enmity or feelings of hatred between different groups on the grounds of religion) and 153B (imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration) of IPC, and Section 66D of the IT Act.

Confirming this, spokesperson of the varsity, Shafey Kidwai, said strict action will be taken against them as per university rules.

In their Facebook post, the students had written, “Eid means happiness and happiness is Pak.”
