Two criminals nabbed in separate operations

NEW DELHI: A notorious criminal from Haryana’s Mewat , who was involved in several cases of cattle and vehicle theft , apart from attacks on policemen in Delhi, was arrested by Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Monday. Accused Munnu Khan (30) carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh.

According to DCP Sanjeev Yadav, Khan’s gang used to fill up their pick-up truck with heavy iron girders and bumpers to damage intercepting police vehicles, especially PCR vans.

“They also increased the pumping of fuel into the truck’s carburetor to derive maximum speed. The gang also kept a stock of large stones to attack cops,” Yadav said.

ACP Sanjay Dutt’s team received a tipoff that Khan would visit southwest Delhi’s Chhawla to commit a crime. A trap was subsequently laid and the accused, travelling in an Eeco car, was intercepted. After a brief chase, Khan was nabbed.

In another operation, Special Cell arrested a 20-year-old shooter from Dwarka. The man was involved in several ‘shoot-and-rob’ incidents in Delhi.

The accused, Rahul, has won gold and silver medals in national-level shooting tournaments, police claimed. Rahul told cops that he wanted to make big money and live a lavish life so he took to crime and became a professional shooter for a gang.
