Two die in Dahod rain fury

Vadodara: Two persons died in rain-related incidents in Panchmahal and Dahod districts on Thursday. While a boy died in Ghoghamba in Panchmahal when a tree fell on him, a woman was swept away by floodwaters in Mota Kaliya village in Dahod.

Panchmahal and Dahod districts have been receiving steady rainfall since Wednesday.

On Thursday, heavy rain was reported in Dahod district and rivers in several parts of the district were in spate.

A 13-year-old boy Tausif Baloch died in Ghoghamba when he was passing under a tree on a scooter. Baloch had gone for tuitions to Ghoghamba with Majib Makrani (8) and was returning to his village Rajgadh when the incident took place. A tree fell when they were passing under it on the scooter. Baloch and Makrani were taken to a hospital where Baloch was declared dead.

Santiga Gavji (32) died in Mota Kaliya village of Dahod district after she was dragged away by the heavy current of a river there. Her body was recovered and taken to Sanjeli civil hospital where she was declared dead.

It is believed that one of the cattle that she was grazing got caught in a flooded rivulet. She was trying to rescue it when the incident took place.
