Two killed, 8 hurt in car accident

Belagavi: Two persons died and eight others were injured after a speeding car hit a roadside pole and bridge wall on the outskirts of Kanagala village near Sankeshwar on Pune-Bengaluru National Highway-4 in the early hours of Wednesday. After hitting the pole, the car toppled multiple times and hit the compound of the bridge.

Deceased are Vaibhav Sambhaji Badakar, 23, a resident of Dindinerli in Kolhapur district and Digvijay Sachin Patil, 22, of Kolhapur in Maharashtra.

The eight injured passengers have been shifted to Kolhapur for treatment.

Police have booked a case against car driver Sagar Dattatrey Patil, a resident of Bachani in Kagal taluk of Kolhapur district for rash and negligent driving.

The car was heading towards Belagavi from Kolhapur. According to police sources, 10 people were travelling in the car. A case has been registered in Sankeshwar police station.
